Notified in 1997, the Parwati Arga Bird Sanctuary plays host to a number of migratory birds every winter, It is situated 40 kms away from Gonda District. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 11 sq kms and consists of two wetlands; namely Parwati and Arga. Over 40,000 wintering Waterfowl fly down to the sanctuary every year while resident birds like Purple Moorhen and Swamp Hen nest here. More than 23 species of Waterfowl have been reported from here. The state bird Sarus Crane finds ideal habitat in this area. Animals like Jackal, Nilgai, etc. are also found here.
